What's the difference in reading the Bible(in English) and Bible(in Hebrew)?

When I was a kid I did try to read the Bible(Roman Catholic Version I think), but every time I read it I got stuck then stop reading it. Years have pass, but I repeat again and again... I start reading again the first page or the first book Genesis then after a while got stuck again then stop.... I was wondering why I can't understand this book? the more I read it, the bigger the why?!

So my brain is telling me: "why bother reading or understand this book!"
Well I can't blame my thoughts it's been years and I'm still confuse in this book.

But Last few month, I had a talk with my friend, and my friend did introduce something interesting, it's about:
  • Alef Bet (the ABC of Hebrew language)
  • How's do Jewish people think
  • The mistranslation of the Bible ~ most important!
After a long conversation with my friend, I try to read the Bible for the last time, but this time I listed all my questions or all my doubts! So after finishing a few chapters in the Genesis, I ask about all my question and my doubts! One by one my friend explain it to me..., of course I got amazed how he understand or how he gain the knowledge about it.

So the answer is simple he said: it's just mistranslation, the original version of Bible is in Hebrew language but the one people usually reading is in not. Basically the one I'm reading is Hebrew translated to Greek then translated again to English(wow, that's quite a long process).

"This simple mistranslation, misrepresentation and misunderstanding is foundational to virtually every Christian theology. It creates the Illusion of a conflict with the Bible itself." ~ Copernicus and the Jew by Daniel Gruber

Just like the simple statement from the book ~
Copernicus and the Jew by Daniel Gruber~ it's explain how important it is to know origin is.

I'm sure this theory is also very helpful in our life.
Shalom Everyone!
